crafts of past, present and future.

It is a varied and many splendored thing, my affair with crafting. here are a few highlights:

One of the first things I sold in my etsy shop was this Magpie Necklace. It is wire and vintage buttons and beads, in tones of grey, black, red, etc. I have a bunch of this style necklaces in the making.

The next entry is a crocheted turtle that I made for a turtle enthusiast friend for her birthday. It is loosely based on the pattern for "Baby Misty Turtle", a turtle crocheted with baby yarn that featured a removeable shell and... diaper. Although I could find references to the pattern online, I could not find the actual pattern, or buy the back issue of the crochet magazine. I found the designer, Fran, a wonderful woman, and asked if she had any ideas on how to get that back issue. She sent me one in the mail. Fran Goreham, bless your sweet crafting heart.
I didn't make a diaper for mine.
They are a little dark.

Okay, onto the next craft.

This is a green man mask that I made for a college class. It was built on a cast of my face, so it is built to fit. The process involved cutting out individual leaves to apply to the face cast, making a mother mold, and doing a neoprene slip cast-- neoprene makes a slightly rigid plastic like cast that is lightweight. I did another version out of my mothermold that was reinforced latex, and that one was much thicker and heavier. It is painted and trimmed and backed with felt, and a band is attached to hold it on your head. This is the autumn version, the latex is a spring version in greens and silver.

Okay, maybe more later, adding photos seems ridiculous, and I am guessing there is an easier and more format friendly way to do it. I will look into that.
